European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2013

The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen announce the call for participation in the European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2013. The competition is open to young artists between the ages of 16 and 30, who are from any member state of the European Union.

The Prize aims at encouraging the development of consciousness and a shared sense of European identity among young people, as well as offering other practical examples of Europeans living together as part of one community.

The Prize offers a purse of € 5,000 to the Best Project, € 3,000 to the Second Place, and € 2,000 to Third Place. As part of the Prize, the three finalists will be invited to visit the European Parliament—in Brussels or in Strasbourg. Likewise, the representatives of all the 27 national projects selected will be invited to a four-day trip to Aachen, in Germany.

The deadline to submit all applications is January 28 of 2013. The application forms are available at the events homepage: www.charlemagneyouthprize.eu, or at the European Parliament Information Office for each country.

Candidates may enter individual or group applications. Group projects can only be submitted under one country. Organizers will accept applications in any language that is an official language of the European Union. The projects submitted must already be under development and completed during the calendar year (12 months) prior to the current applications deadline or to remain active.
