Marta García-Fajardo International Award

The María José Jove Foundation announces the 8th Marta García-Fajardo International Art Award 2021, which seeks to support artistic practice, its promotion, and the dissemination of the visual arts.The award adopts the name of the María José Jove Foundation Art Collection (FMJJ) former director and promoter of the Award, Marta García-Fajardo, who died recently, to recognize her professional career.
The eighth edition of the international call invites people up to 40 years of age to participate. The winning work is endowed with 12,000 euros, and will become part of the María José Jove Foundation Art Collection. Also, a monograph will be published that will analyze the career and work of the winning artist.
Also, the FMJJ, according to its criteria and consideration, may acquire any of the works that the participants have submitted to the contest.
This award is aimed at artists up to 40 years old (on the date of registration), from any nationality and place of residence. Each artist will have complete freedom in terms of presentation disciplines. The artistic trajectory of the artists, their sociocultural discourse, and international projection will be especially considered. Each participant may present one to two works.
The jury of the award is made up of the president of the María José Jove Foundation, Felipa Jove, and by:
Manuel Borja-Villel (Burriana-Castellón, 1957). Curator and writer, Graduated in Art History from the Universidad de Valencia. Since 2008 he has been director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
Catalina Lozano (Bogotá, 1979). Curator and independent researcher based in Mexico City and Director of Programs in Latin America at KADIST, BA in History from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá) and MA from Goldsmiths College (London) and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris).
Manuel Segade (A Coruña, 1977). Curator, researcher, and writer, Graduated in Art History from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Since 2016 he has been the director of the CA2M (Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo) in Móstoles, Madrid.
Susana González (Oviedo, 1971). Curator and cultural manager, Graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad del País Vasco. Director of Consultarte and co-director of the Charco program, since 2009, she directs the FMJJ Art Collection.
The call will be open for the presentation of works, online, until April 12, 2021.
The decision will be made public on June 3, 2021.
