Doctors of the World announced the opening of the call for participation in the the 14th Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award. It is open to professional or amateur photographers of legal age and from any country. Photographs must center on humanitarian, international cooperation, and/or social exclusion themes, and must reflect solidary efforts directed toward building a fairer and more egalitarian world. Each photographer may submit up to ten color or black and white photographs that may or may not be part of a series. Only photos taken between January 2008 and October 2010¿and that have not been entered in earlier editions of the event¿will be accepted. The photographs must be submitted in digital format. A Microsoft Word Document must be sent along with the photographs. It must include the following information: The word ¿series¿ if the photographs are part of a series, and the order in which the images should be viewed. A brief description of the photographs that includes place, context in which it was taken¿must not exceed one page. The author's full name, telephone number, email and postal mail addresses, and contact person in case of author's absence. Submissions sent by email will not be accepted. Images must be sent in digital format, with a minimum resolution of 300 ppi/ppp, and in two formats: TIFF with a CMYK color profile and JPEG with an RGB color profile. They must be high quality compressions (12) and each must be no less than 30 centimeters (11.8 inches) on its shorter side. Only single frame photographs will be accepted. Photomontages and multiple exposure photographs will be excluded from participation. Prizes: First Prize: a project grant of 8,000 euros that will go toward developing a photography project centered on the endeavor by the Doctors of the World, whether in Spain or in any other country¿subject to the organization's approval. Runners-Up: Two prizes of 1,000 euros each. Selected Works: Along with the winning images, other photographs will be selected from all the works submitted, to be included in national and international exhibitions.
