"Pilar Citoler" International Contemporary Photography Award

The deadline to submit proposals for the "Pilar Citoler" International Contemporary Photography Award will be November 30. The event is open to contemporary artists of any age or nationality. Although the event will continue to be based on the presentation of one work per artist, this year¿s edition will also take into account the artistic trajectory of the participants and their contribution to the discourse of contemporary photography. The winning work will become part of the art collection of the Universidad de Córdoba. Likewise, during the months of February and March of 2013, the winning artist will present a solo show at the Sala Puerta Nueva in this Spanish city. The objective of this exhibition is to showcase a comprehensive view of the artist¿s trajectory. A monographic catalog will complement this exhibition and the winner will receive 15 thousand Euros. Candidates may submit only one photograph that has never before been awarded in any other competition. The work may be centered on any theme, rendered using any technique and must not exceed 78.7 × 78.7 in (200 × 200 cm). The jury includes: Pilar Citoler, art collector and founder of the Colección Circa XX, part the Patronato del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía; María Bleda and José María Rosa, photographers the contributed the image for the Sixth edition of the Event; Norberto Dotor, Director of the Galería Fúcares; Karen Knorr, winner of the previous edition of the event: and Alfonso de la Torre, theoretician and art critic. The Award will be presented during the month of February, 2012. Pilar Citoler, the person who the Award is named after, received the 2005 ARCO Award for best Private Art Collection in Spain, and, in December of 2007, she was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts. Citoler presided over the Patronato del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Her art collection includes more than 1,300 Spanish and international contemporary works of art that belong to many artistic disciplines: painting, sculpture, contemporary bibliophile and engravings.
