IILA-Photography Award 2014

This 7th IILA-Photography Award follows the great success of the 2013 edition in which 500 photographic projects were entered, ten times more than in the 2011. This initiative aims to offer young Latin American photographers under the age of 40 the opportunity of participating in the festival alongside renowned figures working in this artistic discipline.

Photographers that enter the competition must offer proposals based on the modality of the portrait as a classic genre that has evolved as result of new advancements in photography, here proposed as an analysis of contemporary society through the photographer's mirror, the self-portrait, along with the relationship between individuals and the collective.

A winner will be announced based on the works selected, along with four finalists that will show their work concurrently with the main exhibition of the festival entitled Photography – International Festival of Rome, at MACRO, a prestigious space and the venue in which the IILA-Photography Award is held, thus allowing that the event has great projection, in the context of the other cultural events organized in the Capital.

The winner will be offered a one month residence in Rome, a period during which he/she will be expected to complete a photographic project centered on "The Eternal City." The project will then be presented at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO), during the 2015 edition of the Festival. The winner will also receive: a round-trip airfare ticket in economy class to Rome; 1,500 euros for travel expenses and a one-month stay in Rome, beginning on the days previous to the Festival, so he/she can attend the opening of FOTOGRAFIA.
