The city council of Algemesí, Valencia, announces the call for the 18th City of Algamesí Painting Award
The competition is open to all artists. Each candidate must present up to two paintings, each measuring no less than 100 cm (39.4 in.) or more than 200 cm (78.7 in.) on each side. The work must be submitted with a wood frame. The application must be attached to the back of the painting.
All works must be original and unique and cannot have been previously selected for or awarded in any other competition. Artists can choose any technique or theme. Any works presented with a glass cover or created with materials that could damage transportation.
Candidates must also include with their application a C.V. and copy of their (Spanish) government issued ID or passport, which must be submitted during the presentation of the actual work. The following information also must include: authors full name, title of the work and value of each work in a close envelop.
The deadline to submit all applications is November 24, 2012. Works can be received from Wednesday through Saturday, from 11:00 to 13:30, and from 17:30 to 19:00 p.m.
The works can be delivered in person, duly packaged or properly shipped in cardboard packaging, or in a wood box, to the following address: Museu Valencià de la Festa c/ Nou del Convent, 69-71 46680 Algemesí (Valencia). Tel.: 962018630, The award offers a purse of 6,000 to the winner. The winning work will become a exclusive property the city council of Algemesí. This entity reserves the reproduced the image in any type of support or technique—photography, engraving, lithography— if deemed necessary.
