The Emergent-Lleida (International photography and visual arts festival) and the Fundació Sorigué announce the opening of their 2011 Emergent-Fundació Sorigué photography prize call. The call is open to individuals of any age who reside in any part of Europe and who belong to any faculty that offers a photography and/or an art academic program. The competition is also open to emerging artists under the age of 30 who are not necessarily registered in academic institutions. The goal of the call is to promote, disseminate, and challenge emerging artists who use photography as their central form of artistic expression. Candidates have until July 10, 2011 to submit a minimum of ten images-through the festival¿s homepage-accompanied by a written description of coherent conceptual principles (with no page limit). Likewise, participants are permitted to explore any themes and techniques in their works. Six works will be selected from all the proposals entered in the competition. The winning artists will be declared finalists and they must be in Lleida on October 28 of 2011. Finalists are expected to present their works to the jury during the "Nice To Meet You" program, a public viewing event scheduled during the festival that will be followed up by interviews related to the selection process. Then, the jury will select the winner, who will receive a purse of 2,000 euros. For the complete rules of the competition and to fill the application form visit:
