The Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for the New Ibero-American Journalism (the FPNI Spanish acronym), with the technical assistance of the Arteria Foundation, calls artists born in any Latin American or Iberian-peninsula country to participate in the call for submissions for a sculpture to be used as a symbolic representation of the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award. The purpose of this call is to select the concept and design of an original, unique work of art with the general topic of "Gabo and the best job in the world," to be finalized before September 25, 2014. The first series of copies of the commemorative sculpture chosen by the jury will be presented on October 1, 2014, to the winners of the Second Edition of the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award. The winner will receive a financial award of thirty million Colombian pesos (approximately US$15,500), and will be invited to travel to Medellin, Colombia, to participate in the award ceremony and activities programmed around the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award, which include an exhibition with the winning proposal and the finalists. Reception of submissions for the creation of this sculpture, to be the emblem and image of the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award, will remain open through August 12, 2014. All participants must fill out the online entry form, available through the competition's website. Participants must also send their proposals via email or physical mail.
