With the objective of stimulating artistic production among young emerging artists in Argentina and to showcase new artistic creations, Itaú Cultural announces a new call for its acquisition prize.
The call is open to any forms of artistic expression within the realm of the visual arts. Candidates must enter their applications and submit the images of their works at http://www.premioitau.com.ar by October 17 of 2013, at the latest.
The Award Jury is formed by Moacir dos Anjos, Diana Aisenberg, Fabián Legenglik, Alberto Petrina and a representative from Itaú. They are entrusted with the selection of 3 winning works from among the finalists.
Because they are acquisition prizes, the winners will receive a purse of $35,000.00, $25,000.00 and $20,000.00 Argentinean pesos—for the First, Second and Third Prize respectively—and their works will become part of the Itaú's contemporary art collection.
One thousand seven hundred works were submitted for the previous edition of the event, which constituted the largest visual arts call ever in Argentina, despite being an event exclusively for artists under the age of 40, in which only one work per artist is accepted. Fifty finalist works became part of the exhibition that now travels across Argentina.
Itaú Cultural is a non-profit program spearheaded by Itaú. Initiated in 1987, it has offered a program of activities in Argentina since 2009 in the fields of the visual and audiovisual arts, music and literature.
