Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño launches the call for its biennial contest to select works and/or projects by mid career and well established artists to participate in the Biennial Award, which will be shown at the exhibition halls of the Foundation. The award consists of two consecutive group shows comprising works selected by a jury in accordance with their quality, characteristics and viability, with no restrictions regarding artistic media or dimensions; the shows will be held between August and September of 2010. Two (2) acquisition awards of thirty million Colombian pesos ($30.000.000 each) will be granted. Note: The winning artists with ephemeral works (artistic actions) must send a documentary record (conceived as the work) that will become part of the art collection of Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño. Participants may include adults who are Colombian or foreign visual artists, (foreigners must certify at least five (5) years living in Colombia), as well as artists with university degrees documenting a ten (10) year curriculum of solo and/or group shows and who have had at least one (1) solo show in the last four (4) years. Each artist may register up to two projects or works for the contest before July 13. The list of selected artists will be published on July 21, 2010.
