AAGA Biennial Prize for Visual Arts

The call of the Argentine Association of Art Galleries (AAGA, its Spanish acronym) has now been issued for the fourth issue of its AAGA Visual Arts Biennial. Its purpose is to promote, encourage, expand, and exhibit visual arts. Argentine and international artists with more than five years of residency in Argentina may participate. Applicants must be under 45 years of age. Pre-selection will be based on photographs of the participating works. Participants must present a printed photograph of their works ¿ no smaller than 13 x 18 cm. and no larger than 20 x 30 cm. ¿ their CV and the completed application form, which can be obtained at the AAGA webpage. These materials must be submitted to the AAGA Headquarters located at: Suipacha 1087 3º ¿B¿, C1008AAU, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. If selected, participants may present a work different from the photographed work submitted during the pre-selection process. The selected works will participate in the AAGA Biennial Prize for Visual Arts. The jury panel will then choose among the works to select the winners and award the honorable mentions. Each participant will submit one work only. The dimension of the work cannot exceed 1 meter on any of its sides, and in the instance of three-dimensional works, these cannot be larger than 1 x 1 x 1 meter and cannot weigh less than 50 kilograms. The AAGA will grant a first prize of $7,000 (acquisition), a second prize of $4,000 (acquisition), and three honorable mentions (medal and diploma). Both the winning work and the remainder of the pre-selected pieces will be exhibited at the Centro Cultural Recoleta (Recoleta Cultural Center). All applications must be received by June 15, 2009.
