arteBA-Petrobras Visual Arts, 10th Edition

The arteBA foundation is receiving entries for the 10th edition of the arteBA-Petrobras Visual Arts Award. The competition is open to visual artists 18 or older who are Argentinean citizens regardless of their country of residence, or foreigners currently residing in Argentina.

Registration will be solely via the award's web page (*) between Monday, December 3rd, 2012 and Monday, January 28th, 2013 (inclusive). Interested participants must complete the registration process by filling our the free-access form. The form includes their personal information, an attachment of their portfolio, and a proposal for the new project or the existing works that will be completed for arteBA 2013. Additionally, participants are required to include an essay explaining how their entry responds to the competition's call.

Proposal must be designed in accordance to the space and audience characteristics of the Fair in which they will be exhibited.

For the 10th edition of the arteBA-Petrobras Visual Arts Award, five artists will be selected by a team that includes Roberto Amigo (art historian, Buenos Aires, Argentina); Jorge Macchi (artist, Buenos Aires, Argentina); and Cuauhtémoc Medina (researcher at UNAM's Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas, Mexico; curator of Manifesta 9. The Deep of the Modern in Genk, Belgium, 2012; curator of the 10th edition of the arteBA-Petrobras Award).

Their selection will be announced on Monday, February 11th, 2013, via the web page. Once the final selection is complete, curator Cuauhtémoc Medina will work with each of the five participants in the development of the work to be exhibited at arteBA 2013.

Each of the five artists selected will receive a subsidy of 25,000 pesos, or its equivalent in US dollars. This amount is intended to cover any expenses connected with the artist's participation in the event.

The five artists selected will compete for the Petrobras Stimulus + Fellowship Award.

The Stimulus Award includes a monetary award in the sum of 50,000 pesos, or its equivalent in US dollars.
