Pivô platform inaugurated its art space in the iconic COPAN Building in São Paulo on September 4th, 2012. The inaugural exhibition brought together young, unknown artists and well-established ones, like Brazilian artist Carmela Gross. São Paulo galleries Mendes Wood and Emma Thomas contracted spaces in the building for solo exhibitions by their artists as part of the 30th São Paulo Biennial's opening.
Pivô is a non-profit cultural association devoted to researching contemporary processes of cultural creation. Its goal is to propose critical interrogations in fields such as art, architecture, urbanism and other contemporary expressions through the dialogue between creators, theorists, producers, students, and the general public.
On last March 7th, the temporary studies for artists of Ateliê Pivô were also inaugurated. Artists selected for this first edition of the program are Paulo Nimer Pjota (1987, São Paulo) and the AVAF (assume vivid astro focus) collective formed by Eli Sudbrack and Christopher Hamaide-Pierson. During upcoming months they will work in the second floor of Pivô, developing their projects and works.
