Nearly 80 works that are part of the Colección Blaisten will be shown in the U.S. in a traveling exhibition that will begin on July 1 of this year. The event represents the first formal survey of the emblematic works from this collection. Entitled Modern Mexican Painting from the Andrés Blaisten Collection, the exhibition is curated and organized by the Museo Colección Blaisten of the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco (CCUT), which is part of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). It includes works from this collection by 40 visual artists and it will be shown first at the Phoenix Art Museum, in Arizona, where it will remain from July 1 to September 25 of this year. From November 5, 2011 to January 29, 2012, the exhibition will be presented at the San Diego Museum of Art, in California, and from February 19 to June 16 of 2012, it will be shown at the Meadows Museum of Art, in Dallas, Texas. For the last 30 years, Andrés Blaisten -the owner of the collection- has been building a cultural legacy that showcases a complete overview of several important Mexican artists, among these: Angel Zárraga, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Clemente Orozco, Rufino Tamayo, Saturnino Herrán, Julio Ruelas, María Izquierdo, Gabriel Fernández-Ledesma, Alfredo Zalce, and Miguel Covarrubias.
