Peter Fischli David Weiss: How to Work Better

Until September 4 of 2016, the Museo Jumex presents the exhibition titled "Peter Fischli David Weiss: How to Work Better." The exhibition consists of more than two-hundred sculptures, photographs, videos, and installations that offer a panoramic view of the work by Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss. Instead of following a chronological order, the exhibition groups selections from each of the duo's most important series, including pieces created in different periods of their careers, thus forming intertwined dialogs across their collaborative trajectory. This order reflects the interconnections in their production and underscores the coherence and diversity of their work. In this manner, the exhibition centers on the incisive conversations that Fischli and Weiss had during the 30 years of their collaborative relationship. From 1979 to 2012, Swiss artists Peter Fischli (Zürich, 1952) and David Weiss (Zürich, 1946–2012) collaborated on a series of works that offers a deceptively casual meditation on the manner in which we perceive daily life. Through the ingenious "misuse" of cultural genres—from low-budget Hollywood movies and postcard images, to the traditional notion of the readymade—Fischli and Weiss transformed the ordinary into something extraordinary. The exhibition is organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York; by Nancy Spector, former Deputy Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator of the Guggenheim Museum; and Nat Trotman, the Museum's Curator of Performance and Media; in close collaboration with Peter Fischli, and initially conceived with David Weiss.
