Organized by the Institución Ferial de Madrid (IFEMA), the International Contemporary Art Fair ARCOmadrid continues alternating several lines of inquiry on concepts like the future—this year's theme—through its already traditional Guest Country section. In keeping with this formula, Peru has been selected as the honor guest country for the 38th edition of ARCO Madrid held from February 20 through February 24 of 2019. A group of galleries selected by Sharon Lerner, contemporary art curator of the Museo de Arte de Lima, will bring to Madrid a diverse sampling of Peru's contemporary art production. The accompanying program of events will offer a series of exhibitions in Madrid under the curatorship of Fietta Jarque, art journalist and independent curator appointed by the Ministry of Culture of Peru. These exhibitions will expand the public's understanding of the visual culture of Peru across several disciplines. Additionally, professionals from Peru will participate in the Experts Forum to analyze the Peruvian art scene as well as other themes pertaining to art collecting, curating, and art criticism in the western South American country.
