Pedro Reyes at the Nivola Museum

The Mexican artist Pedro Reyes presents his first solo exhibition, "Zero Armi Nucleari," at the Nivola Museum in Orani, Sardinia, Italy. The Zero Nukes campaign supports the show in collaboration with numerous art institutions.
The exhibit aims, on the one hand, to draw the public's attention to nuclear threats and, on the other hand, to put pressure on governments to reduce their weapons production. The project created within the framework of Atomic Amnesia is supported by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, an association created after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs to disseminate information about this type of instruments and technologies that are potentially lethal to humans. In addition, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the consequences of a nuclear war are being discussed today.
The project developed by Reyes links this object of study through its iconography and the symbols used in the 20th century by activist groups and organizations that promote disarmament and the abolition of weapons. Such as the dove, the peace symbol, "zero", among others. These elements are presented as reminders of popular movements in pacifist contexts and, in turn, as tributes to artists who have worked these emblems full of meanings.
