"Sidewalk of the Americas". International Travelling Outdoor Art Installation

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announces its "Sidewalk of the Americas" call. Open until January 7 of 2018, the call invites emerging and established artists, 18 years of age or older and from any IDB-member country in Latin America, to submit their artistic proposals. The works selected will be exhibited in an international traveling exhibition that will include more than 150 works exploring the cultural, creative and artistic creativity associated with the development challenges of the Americas. The proposals submitted must reflect on one of the following development challenges in the region: diversity and inclusion, innovation, economic growth and globalization, gender equality, environmental sustainability and justice. Submissions may include digital works created with any medium and that are horizontally formatted. The six artists selected per country will receive: 1.A one-time payment of USD $200 for the work selected. 2.Exposure in the international community through the display of several installations across the region. 3.A certificate of participation in the exhibition. 4.Credit for all the materials associated with the installation. Participation requirements: •The call is open to artists 18 years old or older who are citizens of any of the IDB-member countries in Latin America. •Any person with a close relative working for the Inter-American Development Bank, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) or the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), or who work in the office of the executive director of any those organizations, cannot apply to this project of the Americas. Requirements for the work submitted: •Only one work per participant will be accepted and it must have been created by the applicant. •The work submitted must be an original piece created after January 1, 2014. •The IDB strongly recommends not to submit works that include words in any language. •The work presented cannot be overtly violent or political, nor include content that is not aligned with IDB values. •The IDB will only accept works presented in digital format, TIFF or JPG, of at least 10 MB and with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. In the case of works not originally created digitally, the artist must submit digital reproductions of it. •All works must be horizontally formatted. •The works submitted may be in color or black and white. This initiative is organized by the IDB-Inter-American Development Bank, institution entrusted with the task of helping to improve the quality of life in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the areas of health, education and infrastructure, by providing financial and technical support to countries working to reduce poverty and inequality; and by The Cities LAB, a platform of services aimed at fostering and implementing innovative projects with the potential of furthering sustainable urban development in America.
