Passport with Fernando de Szyszlo

Next Tuesday June 17th, at 6:30 pm, audiences will have an opportunity to meet an important figure in Latin American abstract art, in an event titled Pasaporte con Fernando de Szyszlo, to be held at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín in collaboration with the General Consulate of Peru in Colombia. This conversation is the opening of a tribute to the artist on his 90th birthday. During his visit at MAMM, audiences will talk with him about his career and his current work. Fernando de Szyszlo was born in Peru in 1925 and has incorporated into his oeuvre, based on abstraction, an indigenous worldview, Andean landscapes, and complex figures that make reference to the indigenous cultural legacy in Peru. These themes are of great importance for the artist, who has been described as a chiaroscuro virtuoso thanks to his use of color. As part of the tribute to Szyszlo, the Duque Arango gallery in Medellin will exhibit several of his most recent works.
