Out of Sync by Fernando Casasempere

Anyone walking by the Palacio de la Moneda in Santiago, Chile, before November 30, will be able to enjoy a show never before seen: the green area of the Plaza de la Ciudadanía (Citizenry Square) covered by 10 thousand daffodils created with mining tailings. It is a work by Chilean sculptor Fernando Casasempere presented outdoors.

Entitled Out of Sync, this exhibition by the London-based Chilean sculptor was also met with great acclaim at the Somerset House in London, during the series of activities organized before the Olympic Games of 2012. This work falls within the line of work created by Casasempere that is characterized for transforming industrial waste into inspiring objects.

Out of Sync will remain in Plaza de la Ciudadanía until the end of November. Later on, the flowers will be packed and donated to the city of Antofagasta, where they will remain for good. Fernando Casasempere explained that these presentation aims at recreating the joy of observing a park full of daffodils blooming in springtime. About this, the author said: "It makes me happy to know that many Chileans with be able to admire this 10 thousand daffodils, just as it occurred in London, as this is a type of work that takes nature to the urban space."

The exhibition is an joint initiative with sculptor Fernando Casasempere, the Fundación Sociedad Nacional de Minería and the Antofagasta Minerals company, with the suppor of First Lady Ceciilia Morel.
