The exhibition entitled Sacred Gold. Pre-Hispanic Art from Colombia will be on display until September 4, 2011 at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao. Sponsored by BBK (Bilbao, Bizkaia Kutxa, Caja de Ahorros de Bilbao y Vizcaya) and jointly produced by the Banco de la República and the Museo del Oro in Colombia, the exhibition includes 253 pieces made in gold, silver, ceramics, and stone from the permanent collection of the Museo del Oro of the Banco de la República in the Colombian capital. Necklaces, bracelets, masks, breastplates, and stone objects, among other pieces, are part of an exhibition aimed at showcasing the artistic and metallurgic processes in the societies within this Latin American country that date as far back as the Fourth Century B.C.; some of the objects were created as far back as 2,500 years ago.
