The call seeks to organize candidacies to outline the 2018 program of the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (EAC) of the National Directorate of Culture that is part of Uruguay's Ministry of Education and Culture, with the goal of organizing three or four seasons of two- to four-month long artistic exhibitions. The call is directed at visual artists, curators, and researchers with projects in the following modalities: a.Individual, group and/or curatorial proposals: Will receive up to $60,000.00 (sixty thousand Uruguayan pesos), which must be duly accounted for in the proposal's budget, taking into consideration the type of work or exhibition proposed, the space or spaces that it would occupy, as well as the construction or maintenance required. b.Residency proposals: Up to $90,000.00 (ninety thousand Uruguayan pesos) will be granted, depending on the same considerations aforementioned for the individual proposals, but in this case also considering the number of artists that would participate in this modality. c.Education and research proposals: This section refers to proposals by foreign or Uruguayan curators who, in both instances, can prove residence abroad for more than three years at the time of applying, and whose proposals include three foreign artists. Applicants who fulfill these conditions can ask for a greater budget of up to $120,000.00 (one hundred twenty thousand Uruguayan pesos) that must be clearly justified in the budget to be evaluated in the proposal. These types of proposals must involve, in all modalities, the presence in Montevideo of at least the curator and one of the participating artists during the mounting and inauguration of the exhibition, and must also take into account all the expenses associated with their attendance. All submitted proposals must be entirely or mostly original when it comes to their adaptation to this call. They could not have been exhibited or created before or participate in a future program by other institutions in the city of Montevideo. Not meeting these conditions will result in their disqualification, even if this is determined after their selection has been announced and published.
