The J. Paul Getty Museum has announced the donation of 52 works by acclaimed Mexican photographer Manuel Álvarez-Bravo (1902-2002) from his vast production in Mexico between 1920 and the decade of the 1970s. The photographs are a gift from Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser from Los Angeles, who since 2000 have maintained the tradition of making valuable donations to the Getty, as they have now augmented to 247 the heritage of this photographer at the museum. For ten years, these benefactors have donated 100 artworks by Álvarez-Bravo to the museum, as well as 61 works by Graciela Iturbide, who was his student. Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser have also helped the museum to build an important photographic collection of the U.S. post-war period, and they are also active members of the Museum's Photography Committee, presided over by Steinhauser from 2007-2009. With this donation, the Getty Museum becomes the institution with the largest collection of works by Manuel Álvarez-Bravo in the U.S.
