New Artworks at Museo Reina Sofía

The Director of the Museo Reina Sofía, Manuel Borja-Villel, announced that the wife of photographer Brassai left behind a will that donates 200 works to the Museum, including photographs Brassai took in Spain and Paris. This donation is one more among several other donations the Museum has received, like Cornell Capa¿s gift of 205 photographs about the Spanish Civil War authored by his brother Robert Capa. Manuel Borja-Villel also made public other acquisitions by the Museum at ARCO, including two photographs by Brassai. The museum also added to its collection works by Cristina Iglesias, Pedro G. Romero, Rogelio López-Cuenca, Ignasi Aballí, Francesc Ruiz, Miguel Ángel Campano, Matt Mullican, Rosa Barba, H. Peter Feldmann and Kurt Schwitters. All together, they amount to 12 artworks costing 676.272 Euros, a number that exceed the Museum¿s purchasing budget of 500,000 Euros.
