Colombian Nocturnes

Located in the city of Paris, the Musée du Quai Branly presents until February 2, 2014, the exhibition entitled Colombian Nocturnes. Contemporary Images. the inauguration was presided over by Christine Barthe, head of the photography collections at the Musée du Quai Branly.

Under the curatorship of Christine Barthe, the exhibition includes works by four highly accomplished Colombian artists: Juan Manuel Echavarría (Medellin, 1947), José Alejandro Restrepo (Bogota, 1959), Miguel Ángel Rojas (Bogota, 1946) and Oscar Muñoz (Popayan, 1951).

The venue is given to these artists in the context of the Photoquai Biennial. Colombia was selected out of 29 participant countries to present a second exhibition under the title of Colombian Nocturnes.

These four artists convey the Colombian conflict from different perspectives. Four exhibition halls, one per artist, were allocated to present artistic essays centered on an uninterrupted Colombian civil war that has been ongoing since 1946.
