Nicolás Gómez Echeverri, the new director of the Arts Unit of Banco de la República

The cultural network of Banco de la República has announced Nicolás Gómez Echeverri as the new director of the Arts and other Collections Unit of Banco de la República, a position he will assume starting February 27.
Nicolás Gómez Echeverri (Bogotá, Colombia), a graduate of the Art program at the Universidad de los Andes, holds a master's degree in Art History Research from Goldsmiths University in London. Specifically, he has excelled as an artist, curator, and art historian. Additionally, he has served as a university lecturer at the Universidad de los Andes, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, and the Universidad La Sabana (Bogotá). Furthermore, he brings extensive experience in curation, museum management, and research on institutional collections. In the last five years, he held the position of director at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima.
The Art Collection of Banco de la República, initiated in 1957, stands out as one of Colombia's largest collections. After more than six decades of rigorous and consistent collecting, it now houses over 6,000 works of art, including pieces by Colombian, Latin American, and international artists.
