Chilean artist Nicolás Franco received the AMA Fellowship 2013, given by the AMA Foundation, sponsored by collector Juan Yarur and curator Cecilia Brunson.
The fellowship will cover expenditures connected with an artistic residence in London—Gasworks—in mid-2013, including air and land transportation, a stipend, housing, and tutorial support for his work. Additionally, it will fund a solo exhibition at the Museo de Artes Visuales de Chile in 2014.
Franco's work is in large part comprised of re-readings or reinterpretations of resources from media such as film, photography, and literature, which he appropriates as support in the process of conceiving his art.
