Naomi Beckwith, Artistic Director of documenta 16, has revealed her curatorial team, which will include Carla Acevedo-Yates, Romi Crawford, Mayra A. Rodríguez Castro, and Xiaoyu Weng. Together, they will be responsible for developing the exhibition, publications, and programming of the show, which will take place in Kassel from June to September 2027.
Beckwith highlighted her team’s independence of thought and generosity, stating that they will explore diverse artistic practices as well as pressing social and cultural issues.
Team Members:
●Carla Acevedo-Yates: Curator and researcher of contemporary art of the Americas, with an emphasis on the Caribbean and Latin America.
●Romi Crawford: Professor and writer, focused on collaborative and experimental artistic research.
●Mayra A. Rodríguez Castro: Writer and editor, known for her work in preserving cultural legacies.
●Xiaoyu Weng: Curator and writer with experience in major international institutions and biennials.
This multidisciplinary team will play a key role in the upcoming edition of documenta 16.
