A new space is born in the city of Navarra, Spain, aimed at promoting Latin American art: the Museo Universidad de Navarra, an institution conceived as an integrated part of the campus of the Universidad de Navarra that is scheduled to open to the public in 2014.
The architectural project will cost nearly 25 million euros and it will consist of a monumental building that, besides housing the important art collection of María Josefa Huarte and the Fondo Fotográfico of the collection that the museum initiated with a bequest from José Ortiz-Echague, it will also incorporate performing arts—theater, dance and music—into its program, as it will have and auditorium with the capacity to welcome 700 spectators.
Measuring 11,000 square feet, the museum will have nine exhibition rooms, an auditorium with 700 chairs, two workshops, one faculty club, one library, a classroom, two educational halls, two screening rooms, offices and warehouses. The space will also have a hall, foyer, lobbies and other services. The building's roof will be be accessible to the public and it will have green areas.
