The Fundación Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía has just been formally and legally constituted along with its board. This foundation represents a milestone in the history of the museum and responds to the need of providing the institution with support and tools to face the demands and aspirations of contemporary society.
The foundation also wants to become an instrument that promotes a new model of global projection online, in order to firmly position itself as an international referent. It also aims at offering more opportunities for civil society to participate, as it will also enable the proposal of new mechanisms to self-finance its cultural agenda.
Alongside the Queen of Spain, the following personalities from the Spanish cultural world also participated in the presentation of this foundation: the Spanish Minister of Culture, José María Lassalle; Guillermo de la Dehesa, president of the Patronato of the Museo Reina Sofía; and Manuel Borja-Villei, Director of the Museum.
