Last December, the Lucy Tejada Museum opened its doors in the city of Pereira, at the Cultural Center that also bears her name.
The opening was accompanied by an exhibition of 163 works that belonged to the artist's private collection and that have left their mark on the region's art and culture.
With an investment of nearly $1.7 billion, the Mayor's Office of Pereira renovated the Lucy Tejada Cultural Center's architectural spaces to accommodate the Museo Lucy Tejada, which houses the donation received by the city in 2011 (the year of her death).
The museum "offers a space that enables us to understand who she was, what inspired her, and the beauty and importance of her work for the city," Secretary of Culture Rosa Elena Angel Arenas declared.
The Mayor's Office was in charge of restoring the works that make up this gift to the city and has been conducting research on the artist's legacy.
To adequately condition this museum of knowledge and culture, the Antioquia Museum provided advice to elaborate a museography that allows visitors to understand the importance of this Pereiran artist's career and recognize her as a cultural icon.
