Jumex Museum

On November 16th, Jumex Foundation/Collection, established by Eugenio López, will open the doors of the new Jumex Museum in Mexico City.

The project is distributed on five levels (basement, first floor, levels 1, 2, and 3) and features over 6,000 square meters of construction. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, the museum will host one of Latin America's most important contemporary art collections.

For its inaugural program, the museum will present 5 large-scale exhibitions:

1. An exhibition of its permanent collection, featuring works by Francis Alÿs, Carlos Amorales, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Robert Gober, Donald Judd, On Kawara, Joachim Koester, Gonzalo Lebrija, Richard Long, Gordon Matta Clark, Jean-Luc Moulène, Rivane Neuenschwander, Gabriel Orozco, Charles Ray, Dieter Roth, Robert Smithson, Tatiana Trouve, Cy Twombly, Franz West, and Hannah Wilke, among others.

2. A James Lee Byars, co-curated by Peter Eleey from MoMA PS1.

3. An exterior installation by Damián Ortega.

4. A presentation of the Fernando Gamboa archive.

5. A project by Hans Ulrich Obrist, titled Lo intelectual como agente politico.

The 2,500 square meters on which the building rests is located between Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra Boulevard, Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca street, and Lago Zurich street.
