The remodeling of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem has been completed. Designed by the firms James Carpenter Design Associates of New York and Efrat-Kowalsky Architects of Tel Aviv, the remodeling project cost close to 100 million dollars. The exhibition and public spaces have been expanded by up to 80,000 square feet, and the collections have been rearranged and divided into four sections ¿ Archeology, Fine Arts, Jewish Art and Life, and Encyclopedic Collections ¿ in order to incorporate recent acquisitions. The Israel Museum inaugurates its new space with the exhibition Artists' Choices, which presents new additions to the Museum collection that are showcased alongside works from across the Museum's collections. This three-part exhibition is curated by artists Susan Hiller, Yinka Shonibare, and Zvi Goldstein, respectively. The museum will also feature two new monumental commissions that are closely associated to the new architecture and surrounding landscape: Whenever the Rainbow Appears by Olafur Eliasson, and Anish Kapoor's Turning the World Upside Down, Jerusalem.
