Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico 20 years of work

The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR), on July 1, 2020, celebrated its first two decades serving the community. Since its opening in 2000, it has presented more than 100 exhibitions and has served more than 2 million visitors through its artistic, educational, and social mission.
On the occasion of the anniversary, MAPR launches a special website dedicated to telling the history of MAPR's past 20 years, which can be accessed through the museum portal www.mapr.org. The virtual space presents a selection of 20 central themes through which memories, events, services, achievements, and work carried out by the institution since its opening are highlighted. It will be a space in constant evolution, in which, for one year, every three weeks, content on one of these central themes will be shared, in the form of small vignettes, which will allow narrating the history of the MAPR, from the aspiration that shaped it, to what it is today.
The programs, services, and offers aimed at the local and international public have allowed the museum to be recognized as the leading institution in the preservation and dissemination of Puerto Rican art. MAPR is an institution accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and is part of the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD).
MAPR's anniversary celebration will run from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
