Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology MAAT

During ARCO 2016, the EDP Foundation announced the opening of the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology MAAT. The institution will be located in one of Lisbon's most popular cultural areas. Specifically at the historic district of Bélem, bordering the Tagus River.
MAAT offers more than 3000m2 of exhibition space, in a groundbreaking "Kunsthalle" designed by Amanda Levete Architects. Additionally, it incorporates over 7000m2 designed for new public space.
The Museum is releasing an innovate program focusing on contemporary culture, through a combination of visual arts, new media, architecture, technology and science. The architect and writer Pedro Gadanho, was appointed as the Director and the responsible for the cultural programme. Gadanho previously held a role as a curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York MoMA.
MAAT will open its doors to the public in October 2016. The opening program will feature "Utopia / Dystopia, part 1", "The World of Charles and Ray Eames", "The Form of Form/ Lisbon Architecture Triennale", "Second Nature", Artists' Film International, among other cultural programs.
