The Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo will present until June 17 of this year, a vast selection of works by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) from the Collection of the Fondation Alberto et Annette Giacometti in Paris.
The first retrospective of this artist in South America, the exhibition includes 280 artworks that represent all the periods in the artistic career of Giacometti; a career that expanded from the 1910s to the 1960s.
Alberto Giacometti was one of the most important artists of the Twentieth Century. The human figure was the main source of inspiration behind his work. Among the works that standout in this exhibition are his famous elongated sculptures. On the other hand, Giacometti creativity was not limited to sculpture, as he also successfully explored drawing and engraving.
