An exhibition at the MACBA Collection, including this museum¿s most recent acquisitions, was inaugurated on May 14 of this year. The exhibit expands over three floors of the museum and presents 320 artworks that include donations, as well as 250 new works acquired over the past three years thanks to the 1.3 million Euros contributed by the Town Council and Parliament of Barcelona, as well as by the MACBA Foundation. Highlighted among the new works is the acquisition of collages, photomontages, and videos such as the installation by Judith Barry entitled In the Shadow of the City¿ Vamp R Y, of 1985, and Joan Jonas¿s montage entitled Lines in the Sand, done in 2002, which draws from a performance based on the history of Helen of Troy. In the museum¿s collection there are also works by Robert Motherwell, Clyfford Still, Ad Reinhardt, Franz Kline, Antoni Tàpies, Antonio Saura, and Manuel Millares. These artists represent the beginnings of the informalist discourse ¿ still current ¿ that took place in the mid-Fifties. Open to the public until August 31, this exhibition also presents a program of videos, conferences, performances, and actions
