Moacir dos Anjos chosen as Curator for the 29th São Paulo Biennial, in 2010

This past July 13, the São Paulo Biennial Foundation, under the reins of its new director, Heitor Martins, announced Moacir dos Anjos as the new chief curator for the 29th issue of that Biennial that will take place in 2010 (the exact date to be confirmed). Moacir dos Anjos currently resides in London after completing a research scholarship granted to him by TrAIN ¿ Research Centre for Transnational Art-Identity-Nation. His appointment was announced on the same that day he presented his final research paper to the faculty and students of TrAIN. The Brazilian morning newspaper Folha de São Paulo has proposed themes of interest that could be covered in the next Biennial. Themes such as ¿Art politics that are free from the institutionalizing of the museums or from efforts to show the `next new thing¿ that is so pervasive in art fairs (¿) presented as a platform for discourse, in which one of the central themes would be the acknowledgement of the ambiguous nature of art as this is divested from its role in representing the world¿¿ For more information, visit: http://bienalsaopaulo.globo.com or www.transnational.org.uk/people/38-moacir-dos-anjos
