Beginning on June 10 of this year, artist Milton Becerra will present his work titled Irradiación de la Energía (Irradiation of Energy) at the Espacio Cultural El Tanque, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands). Geared towards inquisitiveness and inquiries of a performative nature, the multidimensional proposals by this artist from Venezuela are articulated through disciplines like sculpture, installation, painting, photography, texts and audio pieces, digital images, expeditions and exploratory travel projects. Milton Becerra aspires to convey in his work the inner workings of the universe by bringing together in his proposals the history of the American Continent, discoveries in quantic physics and myths. In the 1970s, Becerra began to develop installations and site-specific projects, marking the beginning of a search for the existing connections between the individual, nature and its context. It is based on the study of nature and its mathematical structure that Milton Becerra begins his creative process, as he proposes sources of radiation that expands in different directions and appropriate places to turn them into vectors that project visual energy. In such interventions, the projection of the lines rendered with natural fiber cords reflects a variety of luminous rays that appear to be communicating with the surrounding space, reflecting the visual levitation of the tracings rendered in the space. He uses the threaded framework as the structural element with which to knot the stone that is the center of energy and the focal point of the gaze. The irradiations of the lines drawn across the space simulate orbits that defy gravity; the different tensions of the lines become waves visually projected that refer us almost imperceptible vibrations and sounds. For the creation of this work at the Espacio Cultural El Tanque in the Canary Islands, Milton Becerra performs a fusion of sound and light.
