Miami successfully positions itself as a city for the arts.

Between December and January, four art fairs generated widespread cultural activity throughout Miami. The fairs contributed to the consolidation of Miami as a meeting place for art and culture. Long established as a communication port between Latin America, Europe and the United States, a fact that has impacted directly on the economic and tourism sectors, now extends into the cultural arena with the contribution of the imprint of the art fairs. The presence of Art Basel Miami Beach, -scope, NADA and Art Miami has successfully awakened local interest for collecting, in addition to attracting the attention of foreign collectors to the art and artists of the city. Art Basel Miami Beach, held during December, surpassed all expectations in its second edition where the public enjoyed the best of modern and contemporary art. Likewise, NADA and -scope ¿ held simultaneously with Art Basel Miami Beach ¿ both contributed to the appreciation of international cutting-edge art and offered an alternative space for galleries and artists. Art Miami, which took place in January, offered the public and collectors another encounter with mostly contemporary art ranging from emerging talent to modern masters. The fairs brought a large amount of off-site activities with them, including visits to the collections of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz, Margulies and Rubells, as well as conferences, film projections and parties, all intended to create diverse spaces for fine art lovers.
