Miami Art Central ? MAC ? opens its space on December the 1st, 2003, with the exhibition Ten Floridians.

MAC is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to the support and promotion of visual and performing arts, with an emphasis on contemporary Latin American and Hispanic art. To achieve such purpose and stimulate the dialogue with the community, Miami Art Central is developing a bilingual program of exhibitions (Spanish and English), performances, video, filmmaking and educational events. Looking forward to the inauguration of this new space, MAC is organizing an exhibition with nine acknowledged international guest curators from Spain, England, México, the United States, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina, who have likewise selected several artists from South Florida. With the title Ten Floridians, the show will draw together artworks produced in various manifestations, which will be specifically created for the exhibition. The selected artists are Luis Gispert (curator: Rina Carvajal), Dara Friedman (curator: Clarissa Dalrymple), Adler Guerrier (curator: Thelma Golden), Robert Chambers (curator: Paula Hasper), Sergio Vega (curator: Rosa Martínez), Jacin Giordano and Gean Moreno (curator: Ivo Mesquita, William Córdova (curator: Marcelo Pacheco), Mark Handforth (curator: David Rimanelli) and José Bedia (curator: Victor Zamudio-Taylor). Miami Art Central will open at the Southern Bell Building, located at the corner of Red Road and 60th St., in South Miami. MAC is possible thanks to the support of the Cisneros Fontanals Foundation for the Arts, directed by Venezuelan collector Ella Cisneros.
