Mexico: Fantastic Identity, Twentieth Century Masterpieces. FEMSA Collection

With the title Mexico: Fantastic Identity, Twentieth Century Masterpieces, and thanks to FEMSA, the Museum of Latin American Art (Molaa) presents a journey to the essence of Mexican art of the Twentieth Century. The show will remain open to the public through July 5th. The exhibition comprises 66 works and explores the different artistic movements that developed in Mexico throughout the century, also showcasing the way in which the European avant-gardes influenced local artists. The variety of artworks featured makes it possible for artists such as Diego Rivera and Agustín Lazo to share the spotlight. Among the works on exhibit are works by José Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros; the Itzaccihuatl volcano portrayed by Gerardo Murillo, "Dr. Atl"; a collage by Frida Kahlo; a painting by Remedios Varo; representative works by the La Ruptura movement; and photographic portraits of the artists by Manuel Álvarez Bravo and Graciela Iturbide.
