Melissa Aguilar

The arrival of Melissa Aguilar (1983, Medellín) as curator represents a new chapter for Museo La Tertulia, after a year without a curator and an arduous selection process in which national and regional candidates participated.
Melissa Aguilar is a curator and art researcher with an academic background in design from the Colegiatura Colombiana, a master's degree in Art History from the Universidad de Antioquia, and postgraduate studies in Cultural Management from the Fundación Ortega y Gasset (Buenos Aires). Between 2020 and 2021, she served as curator of the Museo Casa de la Memoria in Medellín and was recently part of the curatorial team of Imagen Regional 9, a program of the Banco de la República. Between 2010 and 2015 she was linked to the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín as production and curatorial coordinator.
Her interests have focused on the history of Latin American and Colombian art of the twentieth century and contemporary art from a critical perspective against hegemonic discourses for the creation of alternative frameworks of interpretation, through a transdisciplinary research approach. Her projects include: Territorios guardianes (Imagen Regional, 2021); OJO. A. Bernal (Centro de Desarrollo Cultural de Moravia, 2020); Counter-narratives in the MAMM collection (MAMM, 2017); Despliegues gestuales.
