MDE15

The Museo de Antioquia presents MDE15, a program of international meetings to be held every four years in Medellin. The first edition opens on November 6, 2015 and will continue through March 2016. The MDE program proposes a work, creativity, and visibilization platform that combines art exhibitions in dialog with the posited topics; pedagogical and educational meetings with academics and theorists; and exchanges between local, national, and international artists and different Medellin communities, through projects developed in the museum's own facilities as well as other institutions and art studios. The topic for MDE15 is "Local Histories/Global Practices". The project as a whole project is aimed toward the establishment of a moment to reflect on and commit to Medellin's recent transformation; the Local Histories/Global Practices topic is intended to serve that purpose. MDE15 seeks to inscribe itself in the city's social fabric while sharing narratives, experiences, and practices from across the globe. For this edition, the meeting is organized as follows: •Exhibition Component: 60 national and international artists with works at Museo de Antioquia and its Casa del Encuentro, and at EPM's Casa de la Música, located at Parque de los Deseos. •Host Spaces: 11 self-managed art spaces in Medellin will co-produce the MDE. •Expanded MDE: A variety of Medellin institutions are linked to the MDE through their own projects. •Parallel Activities: Social and community initiatives in parallel to MDE15.
