María Isabel Rueda: "El oráculo de la noche"

María Isabel Rueda's artistic work has always stood out for how the oneiric, magical, spiritual, and supernatural are explored through various media without losing their poetic essence or mystery. "El oráculo de la noche," the title of the most recent exhibition curated by Eugenio Viola at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogotá, aims to create a space for exploration and dialogue, where visitors can experience the fantastic and the unknown through sight, hearing, and even touch. A collection of pieces that are proof of how the mystical can be found in every material and language.

The exhibition is divided into four parts, each dedicated to a different medium. In the field of film and photography, works such as the series Vampisol (2025) test the rationality and veracity of the camera by exposing the printed image to the Caribbean sun and humidity. Likewise, video works such as Desdoblamiento (2025) allow us to enter the world of dreams, nightmares, and sleeplessness from the documentation of reflections and artistic processes. On the other hand, in the universes of drawing, literature, and design, Rueda establishes conversations with stars, plants, and even the spirits of Colombia's past. Among them, the dialogue she creates with the pictorial and written work of Emma Reyes stands out, not only for the rescue of an artist whose work is beginning to resonate today, but also for the unique perspective she brings to what has been previously produced.

The exhibition can be visited until the beginning of October this year.
