The Museo De Arte Contemporáneo De Monterrey (MARCO) inaugurated Espacio Uno, a showroom specifically designed to exhibit local and national artists. This space was created with the objective of recognizing and making visible proposals by emerging and established artists working within the framework of contemporary art. Espacio Uno will house unpublished works by the guest artists, with oeuvres recently produced or created especially for the site. This initiative was proposed by Taiyana Pimentel, director of MARCO since 2019, to give a renewed use to this space that until now had functioned as an Audiovisual Room.
Espacio Uno was inaugurated with the exhibition "Escenografía para una ciudad (Tramoya)" by artists Saskia Juárez and Rolando Flores. In the exhibition, each artist created an individual work that resulted in two projects that dialogue and complement each other. This show problematizes the urban landscape, in which mountains become emblems of the city but at the same time are the raw material for construction.
This first exhibition at Espacio Uno will be open until May 7, 2023.
