In 2017, Segade was the curator of the Spanish Pavilion at the 57th edition of the Venice Biennale, where he presented the work of Catalan artist Jordi Colomer.
He has taught in university programs in South Africa and Brazil as a professor. He has published articles, essays, and books, such as 'Narciso Fin de Siglo' (2008). He has received several awards and mentions. Among them, some for his commitment to gender equality. Precisely, gender issues were strongly emphasized to earn the head of the Museo Reina Sofia.
The Minister of Culture, Miquel Iceta, was to designate his favorite from the shortlist chosen by a committee of experts formed by Christophe Cherix, chief curator of Drawings and Prints at MoMA in New York; Cuauhtémoc Medina, Chief Curator of the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC); Polish Joanna Mytkowska, curator and art critic; and Spaniards Gloria Moure, art historian, critic, curator and editor; and María Nicanor, curator of architecture, design, and urbanism. They met last week at the National Auditorium, where they interviewed the five finalists in the third and final phase of the project. Segade was the candidate who obtained the highest score in the selection process.
