MAMBO receives a donation from Mike Parr

Australian artist Mike Parr (Sydney, 1945), a pioneer of international performance art, donated to the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá - MAMBO the 120 works featured in the recent exhibition “La resistencia íntima: Performances 1971-2023.” This group of works is especially relevant as it brings together Mike Parr's artistic production of more than five decades ; the donation is composed of video, engraving, drawing, single-channel and multi-channel installation, and in situ works.
Parr is one of the foundational artists in the history of performance, his artistic production explores ideas of space, time, resistance, and memory. Likewise, he explores his mental and physical limits through his body as a form of individual and collective catharsis. In the words of Eugenio Viola, chief curator of MAMBO, "Mike Parr is not only recognized as one of the first representatives of performance art in Australia and the world but also as an artist whose work is characterized by a profound exploration of the various dimensions of human existence (...). Now the public visiting MAMBO will have the opportunity to contemplate his works first hand."
The exhibition “La resistencia íntima” traveled to Naples, Italy, and was inaugurated last September 29 at Fondazione Morra Institute of Visual Communication Sciences, a leading center in the documentation and promotion of the living arts.
