The Museo de Arte Latinoamericano MALBA reopened on November 5 with a new permanent exhibition Latinoamérica al Sur del Sur (Latin America South of the South) organized by Gabriela Rangel jointly with the curators Florencia Malibrán and Veronica Rossi; a temporary international exhibition “Constelaciones” by Remedios Varo and the opening of a work on the esplanade of the Museo de Pedro Reyes, after almost eight months of closure.
Among the first visitors to the museum was a significant figure, Marta Minujín, who stood up on Pedro Reyes’s work, Leverage. “I think it’s fantastic that museums have opened, especially this one, which is like my home. I am happy with this curator, who is strong, furious, love, everything. Art makes good. This work of mine had not been exhibited for years“, said the artist regarding Gabriela Rangel, director of Malba since September 2019.
“Almost nine months have passed since we closed. This was the first museum that closed. It is very emotional. Opening means that we have a symbolic and a workspace as valid as others. And besides, a city without museums does not exist. I think it will do the porteños very good, “commented Rangel.*
