In the Institutional Category, Venezuelan artist Magdalena Fernández (Caracas, 1964) was granted the CODAawards Merit Award for her site-specific work 3i019, installed at Mexico's Museo Amparo in 2019 as part of her solo exhibition Ecos, curated by Carlos Palacios. The international CODA awards highlight projects that best integrate commissioned artworks into the interior, architectural or public spaces.
The installation is inspired by the design of the Museo Amparo, a structure thought as a play between the white of the walls and the transparencies of the ceiling; while the project features a modular structure made up of white cords and tubes placed at different heights, "suggesting a light and mobile reinterpretation of the modular architecture of the building" according to the jury.
CODAawards received 374 applications from 19 countries. CODAworx, in partnership with Interior Design magazine, organized this ninth annual CODAawards: Collaboration of Design + Art.
